There had to be an easier
way, Joe thought, as he clung to the top of the
window. He didn't like heights very much and although he really
couldn't
see
either of his brothers climbing up here, he didn't see why Hop Sing
couldn't
do it. After all, the man was practically part of the family!
"See anything?" Ben called, a certain glee in his tones.
"No," Joe quavered, wondering when he could decently come down.
"You might need to look a bit harder," Ben encouraged him.
"Try turning your
head from side to side."
Gulping, Joe turned his head a tiny bit. Why did his father
think
this was
funny? "Still nothing," he said.
"What is Joe doing up there, wearing his hat, jacket and gun?"
asked a cool
voice. "Or dare I ask?"
"He's checking for spiders, of course!" Ben replied. He couldn't
quite keep
the laughter out of his voice. He glanced at Adam and Hoss and saw
that
they
were about to burst out laughing.
"Oh really!" sighed a female voice and Ben turned to see the
blonde standing
there, wielding a very odd contraption in blue and lilac. "I thought
everyone knew how to catch spiders."
The redhead nodded. "Your patented Dyson technique," she agreed.
Her Dyson
matched her sister's exactly. Well, they were girls of
discriminating
taste,
which is why they were in love with Joe. "Stand aside," the
redhead ordered
Ben and he did so wondering - not for the first time - if hair came
in that
shade of red naturally.
Quite where the power came from to run the electric vacuum
cleaners, Ben
never knew, but as Joe jumped gracefully down from his perch, those
girls
set to and gave the Ponderosa the de-spidering of its life. Hop
Sing stood
back and watched in amazement. Those girls kept showing him new
ways to
keep
the home clean. the ranch house had never sparkled as it had since
the
girls
got there.
Joe put an arm around each of the Giggly Sisters and beamed proudly
at
them.
He knew his girls wouldn't leave him stuck up on that window for
long!
Ben smiled weakly. Sending Joe on a spider hunt was one of life's
joys and
he just knew that life would never be the same again. "When are you
going
home?" he asked, hopefully.
AS one, Joe and the girls chorused "Never!"
