WANTED
by
Heidi

Hoss Cartwright and his nephew Mitch were in Vriginia City for the post.
Suddenly Hoss stood still. Mitch walked up against him.
“Why do you keep standing still?”, Mitch asked amazed.
“Because I see something strange hanging”, his Uncle replied.
Mitch looked in the same direction and saw the poster hanging too.
“Who had hang it there?”, asked Mitch.
“Let's go and see”, Hoss suggested.

So said, so done.

Arrived at the poster Hoss read to his nephew:

WANTED: A BANK ROBBER.
NAME: LEFTY JOE.

The two looked at each other and thought the same thing.
“This is the job for Uncle Joe. He is called Joe and is lefthanded”, Mitch
replied.
Quickly Hoss tored the poster from the wall and folded it up.
They walked to the telegramoffice
“Do you have an envelope for us?”, asked Hoss.
They did have that and Mitch wrote as neat as possible on the cover: To J.
Cartwright. Hoss put the poster in it and closed it.
“We go home and you give this to your Uncle”, said Hoss.
Mitch got the envelope and nodded. They walked to their horses and mounted
on.
On the way home Hoss and Mitch ran into their victim.
“Uncle Joe, there is a personal letter from the deputy for you”, said Mitch.

He got the letter and gave it to his Uncle.
“It is a letter of application for you from him”, said Hoss.
Hereafter Hoss and Mitch rode hurry -scurry further.
Little Joe Cartwright, the younger brother of Hoss, didn't understand a
thing of it and rode to town.

Halfway Little Joe became so curious that he stopped to open the letter.
Though he didn't do itn and he rode ahead to town. Arrived there he saw
deputy Clem Foster just coming out of the office of the sheriff.Little Joe
rode to him and stopped.
“Clem, since when are you sending personal letters of application via that
lovely nephew of mine? I ran into him and Hoss and Mitch gave me this
letter”, said Little Joe.
“Sorry Joe, but I know for sure that you won't be suitable for this job”,
Clem said laughing.
Little Joe got to read the letter and knew enough.
“When I get that nephew of mine into my hands he will get his share and Hoss
too”, groaned Little Joe.
“Joe, take it easy because it was just a joke between them and me. But it
was quite a succes”, replied Clem.
“You don't have to count on my vote with the next election for a new deputy”
said Little Joe.
He went back home again where the others had heard the story too.

Since that moment Little Joe distrusted each letter his brother Hoss and
nephew Mitch brought home for him.
