DREAMING
by

Everyone at the Ponderosa had their own dreams and Hoss Cartwright was
no
exception. But his dream was a réál exception to the rule.
One morning he was alone at home he dreamed happy as a king about his life
at the Ponderosa. Even though he had to share the ranch with his father
Ben
and brothers Adam and Little Joe Hoss couldn’t resist to leave them out
in
his dream. Hoss walked to the map of the ranch and thought:‘Someday...it’s
all gonna be mine!’ Hereafter he went to the kitchen for a cup of coffee
and
a piece of vanilla cake which the Chinese cook Hop Sing had baked the
previous day.The provisions got taken alongt to the living room and Hoss
went to sit so that he had an excellent view at the map. Enjoying the coffee
and cakes he dreamed on his mind: Hoss was the boss of the Ponderosa because
Adam had moved and Ben had changed the temporary for the eternal. Little
Joe
got chased up by angry fathers who wanted to protect their daughters. Hereby
Hoss had the place all to himself and made quite use of it. Everywhere the
animals were walking free and lived together in harmony. Rancher Hoss looked
satisfied around him and thought that he was managing his affairs well.
Suddenly his dream got roughly disturbed because his father and brothers
came in.
“Pa, it is just unfair”, said Little Joe.
“Why son?”, asked Ben.
“We work ourselves to death and your second son sits here happy as a king
throwing coffee and cake into his throat”, answered Little Joe.
“I waited for you but you didn’t come”, reacted Hoss.
The other Cartwrights wanted to say something back but it seemed bette rto
them to keep silent. Hoss on his turn decided to keep silent about his dream
too. After all he knew far too well what his brothers were like.
